RDT's intelligent low power RF network used at the Allied Distillers plant
in Dumbarton, Scotland brought real time data & control to the
distribution chain and the bottling and blending plant.
The system has enabled delivery lead times to be compressed and Allied
Distillers has benefited from high speed, paperless identification and data
collection.
The system utilises RDT’s synthesised multichannel RF
transceiver modules linked to the existing PLCs on the warehouse stacker
cranes. This has provided the flexibility of cable less bi-directional
transactions between cranes and the computerised stock management system.
The master RDT modems with duplicated back-ups are
dedicated to the warehouse operations. Conveyor movements and all radio data
commands to the cranes are generated automatically by one of the PCs. These
work in tandem, one acting in stand-by mode to ensure integrity of
transactions through the back-up modems.
