VideoWave

VideoWave is available in 1.4GHz, 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz versions, approved for license-free use in the UK and internationally. It provides a professional answer to wireless transmission of composite real time video signals using proven video processing technology (PAL, SECAM and NTSC).

VideoWave can also be used in conjunction with our range of modems to offer over air telemetry for full control of PTZ cameras.

VTX1394S / VRX1394S  (1.4GHz)

The 1.4GHz VideoWave units have been designed specifically for the UK market where this frequency is available license-free at an output of 500mW. Other countries may allow its use but usually at reduced power.
The units are small and light, housed in a very robust aluminium extrusion. IP67 rated enclosures giving full weatherproofing for exposed locations are also available. VideoWave may be used with the supplied patch antenna or with externally mounted antennas for greater distances.

For other countries, the units are also available in the following frequencies:
1244MHz, 1274MHz, 1304MHz, 1364MHz, 1424MHz and 1454MHz.

VTX1394SE / VRX1394SE  in Weatherproof Housing

The Transmitter or Receiver unit is available in an IP67 weatherproof housing for convenient outdoor use. It is supplied with an integral mains power supply and an SMA antenna connector on the top. Cable glands are provided in the base for video and power connections. Brackets are supplied for mounting on a standard 50mm diameter pole.

VTX2400S / VRX2400S ( 2.4GHz)

The 2.4GHz VideoWave has been designed to meet the specifications for license free use throughout Europe. Because of the varying regulations in different countries, it is available with output powers between 10mW and 500mW (factory set).
The units are housed in a very robust aluminium extrusion. IP67 rated enclosures giving full weatherproofing for exposed locations are also available. VideoWave may be used with the supplied patch antenna or with externally mounted antennas for greater distances.

The 2.4GHz VideoWave can operate on any one of 3 channels, i.e. 2413MHz, 2442MHz or 2471MHZ. This allows the use of up to 3 cameras on a single installation.




VTX2400SE / VRX2400SE in Weatherproof Housing

The Transmitter or Receiver unit is available in an IP67 weatherproof housing for convenient outdoor use. It is supplied with an integral mains power supply, a TNC antenna connector on the top, and an 'N' type antenna connector on the base for an external antenna. Cable glands are provided in the base for video and power connections.

VTX5800S / VRX5800S ( 5.8GHz)

The 5.8 GHz VideoWave has been designed to meet the specifications for license free operation throughout Europe. The output power is 10mW or 25mW e.i.r.p. with the supplied patch antenna, which is within the limits for most of Europe. 
The units are housed in a robust IP67 polycarbonate weatherproof housing, suitable for external use. VideoWave may be used with the supplied patch antenna or with externally mounted antennas for greater distances.

The 5.8 GHz VideoWave can operate on any one of 3 non-interfering channels, which allows the operation of up to 3 cameras on a single installation. It is possible with the correct separation between antennas, where site conditions allow, to use all 6 available channels.

The 5801 versions have the same specification as above, but have an additional alarm (digital switching) channel and an audio channel.

The inputs for the digital alarm channels on the transmitter are volt free contacts. On the receiver there are corresponding changeover relay outputs with contact rating 1A @ 30V dc.

The audio input on the transmitter is 1 V p-p into 100K ohms unbalanced. The receiver output is 1 V p-p (for a 1 V p-p input) with a frequency response of 50Hz to 15KHz.

Note that the audio channel can be linked out and used as a second digital alarm channel. This is link selectable.

Video and Data for Radio Telemetry

For applications using PTZ cameras, RDT offer the addition of a Radio Modem for complete control of the telemetry functions. This allows the use of all pan and tilt functions as well as zoom, pre-sets etc. from most of the commercially available video control systems. They are available stand alone (see modem page in the products section) or housed in an enclosure together with a video unit.

The IP67 weatherproof enclosures house a Video Transmitter (or Receiver), a Radio Modem and power supply. They are complete with antenna connectors for mounting the 1/2 wave whip antenna and patch directly to the top of the enclosure.

Four Camera System

Using the QL4000 Quad unit, it is possible to set up a system with 4 cameras transmitted over a single radio link, either 1.4 GHz, 2.4 GHz or 5.8GHz. The QL4000TXE combines the 4 video streams from the cameras and sends a single composite video over the air. The quad image can be displayed and recorded as shown below.

The QL4000 is housed in an IP67 weatherproof housing for external use. It can be installed with the transmitter mounted as shown in the picture to give increased height to the transmitting antenna.

Cable entry glands are provided in the base of the enclosure for video input and power leads.

Viewing a Quad Image

In this option, the video from the Receiver is fed directly to a monitor and/or VCR for display and recording. The image displayed and recorded will be a quad image.

Survey Kit / Covert Operation

RDT can supply a complete portable video transmitter and receiver, with batteries and an LCD monitor housed in a convenient robust carrying case. The kit has a variety of uses particularly for covert operations or temporary installations, but one of its main applications is for carrying out a survey prior to installation.
Using the kit, a camera (not supplied) and battery operated transmitter can be placed in the desired location. The receiving unit and LCD monitor can then be used to check reception at the required destination. This can help save wasted and sometimes costly installation time.
