Using Radio Modems to link data loggers monitoring piezoelectric sensors to ensure the stability of a dam adjacent to the new M60 extension (Manchester Ring Road).

Monitoring the position of the dam supporting Audenshaw Impounding Reservoir was very important to the constructors of the final section of the M60- Manchester Ring Road.

Piezoelectric sensors had been buried deep beneath the dam and they were linked to data loggers.

The installation of Radio Modems linking the data loggers with a PC back at the site office, saved a great deal of time that was previously spent collecting the valuable information. It also improved safety by reducing the access that was required to the large construction site.
